“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16).

The word “gospel” means “good news.”

In the Bible, the gospel is the good news about Jesus Christ and what He has done for all people.

It is a message from God to every person on earth.

The gospel tells us how we can be saved from sin and have a new life with God.

It also teaches us about God’s great love and how we can live forever with Him.

Let us look at the gospel more closely and what it really means.

The Gospel Starts With God

The gospel begins with who God is.

God is holy, perfect, and full of love. He created the world and everything in it, including people.

God made us to have a relationship with Him. He wants us to live with Him and follow His ways. But from the beginning, people turned away from God.

They chose their own way instead of God’s way. This is called sin.

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

Because of sin, people were separated from God. Sin brings death and judgment.

God is just, so He cannot ignore sin. But God is also full of mercy, he made a way for us to come back to Him.

Jesus Christ Is the Center of the Gospel

God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to the world.

Jesus was born as a man, but He was also fully God. He lived a perfect life without sin.

He showed love, healed the sick, and taught the truth about God.

Jesus came to take the punishment for our sins. He died on the cross in our place.

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

Jesus did not stay dead. On the third day, He rose from the grave.

This showed that He had power over sin and death.

Because of Jesus, we can be forgiven and made right with God.

The Gospel Is for Everyone

The gospel is not just for a few people. It is for all people, no matter who they are or what they have done. Jesus died for the whole world.

“God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

No one is too far from God. The gospel invites all people to come and receive His love.

We do not have to earn it. it is a gift. We receive it by believing in Jesus.

What We Must Do

To receive the gospel, we must turn to Jesus.

This means we must turn away from sin and trust Him. We call this repentance and faith.

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

When we believe, God forgives us, He gives us a new heart and a new life.

We become His children, we begin to follow Him and live for Him each day.

The Promise of the Gospel

The gospel brings hope. It gives peace with God and a new purpose in life.

Those who believe in Jesus are never alone. The Holy Spirit comes to live in them and help them.

They become part of God’s family, the Church.

One day, Jesus will return. He will make everything new and those who belong to Him will live with Him forever.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain” (Revelation 21:4).

This is the hope we have through the gospel, it is truly good news.
